Surface guys also. On a less serious note.

Anybody ever been out in the field all day and havent found much and then about dusk dark you see it laying there? You reach down to pick up what looks like may be a nice point and your hand passes right on thru a bright patch of bird poo.

Nope! But I've picked up many leaves! Bird poop would make me walk to ride and crank up, go home! Birds are nasty! Yucky!

It happens more with leaves then it does bird poop. Although about half of my points that come from my fields are white.. which does cause me to put my fingers in bird poop every once in a while.

Luckily most of the material around here is dark but that hasn't stopped me from poking some bird poo with my finger on many occasions, and always around dusk. I'd bet it's more of a problem down in the Carolinas where alot of your material is white.

Don't even get me started on leaves, like John says " Leaves are my sworn enemy ".

I've done it lots of times in the crick. Sometimes there is a greyish material that I am still trying to figure out if it's clay, or animal feces. That stuff gets me all the time.

I've did the Bird Poop dance before. Mine was on a Ft Ancient site and with the white outside and a little spot black in the middle I though for sure I had a killer Shell Tube Bead. I even hollered at my buddy, 'I got a killer Bead", than I reached down to pick it up and squished the Bird Poop between my fingers. He laughed so hard I thought he was going to hurt himself. I didn't find it quite as funny, at least not then, but now it's actually quite humorous.

I tried to grab a white point, but it was bird poop on an arrowhead shaped leaf. Quite a letdown. Leaves are bad enough.

Steve, I have reached for a bead many, many times and ended up with a piece of bird doo-doo instead.

Have any of you seen a Paw paw leaf? When these things dry out they look like a g-10 Ramey knife or a turkey tail. Even the texture makes them look flaked. These trees are common in woods beside plowed fields in Indiana, and I know they aren't points, but you can't help but get excited when you see one poking out from under a dirt clod.
