I was wondering today as I drove into Columbus, do you do better artifact hunting in the city or in the country. Or some stories of finds in odd places would be interesting.
My first artifact find was my weirdest. I was 13 years old and was playing with some friends at a newly remodeled school. I sat down to tie my shoe and found a snapped tip St. Charles drill. It all started there. |

Yes, if there is a city there. Probably because it just worked well to put one there. They would have thought the same thing. Easy access, Location... numerous objectives.
I know some towns around here would pick an indian mound and bulldoze it over and build a courthouse or something to that effect on top of it. To now say " the white man is here ". That is what happened in Logan, the town I live outside of.

Same thing happened in Cincy and I'm sure most towns. There were mounds all over in the middle of town......what a shame

Almost all cities of any size are along a waterway. They are generally elevated from that waterway and have flat spots good for building.
Those are the same things one would look for in trying to find camps.
