screen dig

Hi, I am wanting to do a pay screen dig and not sure where to go. I saw a post on here about all the pay dig sites and I am not sure which ones do the screen digs. I called a guy at the d2 ranch in palo pinto and he does them but I don't know if this is a good site or not. I live in Waco and will travel up to 2 maybe 3 hrs away. Any help or advise is appreciated.

Look on austindiggers.com, they have a bunch of pay digs listed.

Nachos is good, but I'm not even sure he's digging right now. You might try TJ's. I have no experience there, but have heard good and bad things about it. I'm gonna have to try it out on my own, and find out for myself.

Went on a screen dig at D2 2 years ago. We found a total of about 8 whole points and some brokes. Perds, Ensor, and a friend found a really pretty Bonham point. There HAS been a corner tang found there as well. It is a good spot. If it were not so hot, I would join you. Doyle is a nice guy and will keep plenty of dirt on the table. Contact me in the fall and let's do one when it's not 100 degrees. Good luck.

I have heard nachos is good but too far to drive for this trip. Same thing with TJ. I got an email from him evidently he has a new site in pipe creek that is opening up on 6-14.

thanks dbull I was hoping to hear from someone that went to d2. It is not too far and the price is right. I wonder if anyone else from this forum has been there that can post if they had decent results. Seems like this dig is pretty lowkey compared to the others. I spoke with doyle a few days ago and he is very nice.

I am very green at this and want to get started off in a good direction. Thanks for everyones replies so far.

I went to d2 yesterday and dug for about 5 hrs. here is what i found. I am curious if any one knows what kind of point the first one is. This was the first time for me to do a screen dig and was happy to find a few points. I wish it was not 105 outside though.

That first artifact appears to be a really rough Clear Fork Gouge. They are pretty common in North Texas. I will be bevelled on one side. I found 2 of them last night in fact. That bid blade looks to be a Covington. At least that is what I would call it. Contact me sometime when it's cooler and I'll go with you. I live about 20 miuntes away. 105 is too hot to be doing that. You'll kill yourself.

Doyle has had some really nice stuff found out there before.
