The Ever Elusive Knapping Scars On Quartz

I haven't done a great job of capturing this in these pics but I wanted to give it a try anyway. These are obviously not great finds by any means but are only study pieces. I may try it again at another time. If anyone can contribute to this subject, please feel free. Thanks for looking.

Agreed, those angled shots seem to bring out the flaking of quartz. Nice points T, and nice spot you got there, that pool is looking really inviting right about now.

Only a few of the ones I find exhibit flaking very well. These busted up study pieces happen to show it best and thanks for the compliment on my spot. I've lived here a long time. Had the pool built in the spring of 93. With the heat the way it is here now, that pool water is 90+ degrees in the heat of the day. Ever sweat under water? Happens to be overcast today so it may be a few degrees cooler.

Nice looking artifacts! Maybe The less milky Crystal quartz shows the flaking better than the grainy bottom portions of crystals.
