Losing momentum
We look for hours on end in our creek and places where the creek leads that we can access publicly without issues. We find nothing but scrapers and a couple potential broken pieces, my dad found one really good one when we first got the property a couple of years ago. I just don't know where to look anymore but I'm getting bummed that I haven't been able to find anything that everyone could recognize as an arrowhead, let alone a bird point or a large piece.
I have tons of scrapers and I'm aching to find something more. I need some leads for land to look on in my area (preferably shared in my private messages and not here on the board). We are avid campers and running out of spots to look. -Shara |

How big is the creek on your property? I tend to find more on the little drainages leading away from the wadable creeks. Also, have you guys been getting the big washout rains we've been seeing to the east of ya? That always helps.
Don't be discouraged by scrapers and brokes. I always believe those lead to the good stuff.

We have 4 acres that Clear Creek runs the entire length of the property, plus a very large hill about 30 yards on the other side of it. I'm sure this creek has changed many times over since the natives were there because in 2 years we've seen major changes because of the flooding rains. I was so hopeful that the erosion from the rains would yield better finds but it's not. My husband and I also find popular swimming streams and walk a mile or two up the stream where no one hangs out to look there but its always full of smooth, water eroded rocks and nothing turns up no matter how large the gravel banks are in the middle of the changing creek.
I don't know of any river spots that could be good to search because we don't hunt or fish to know these areas. Especially those that are remote and on private land. Seems like every place we can hike to has been picked by the swimmers and campers or the rocks are all smooth. Our property has been tilled and bulldozed many times over to give us huge rock piles and bank areas exposed that you'd think something would be there but no luck. We are in such a historically native area it just doesn't make sense how many hours hunting we've done to not have something great to show for it. Lost City Oklahoma is also where the worlds most expensive meteorite fell in the 1970's. So we've got to have some good stuff out here! |

Have yall tried sifting through the gravel in the bottom of the creek? In my best creek, I've only found about 5 that were exposed enough to see them while walking through it.I have found hundreds of complete points while sifting in the same place.I'm not familiar with your terrain so it might be too rocky for this method.Good luck.

Clearcreekbeauty, I feel your pain
I followed footprints for about a mile the other day which were very fresh by the way thinking I was going to meet the individual shortly and was actually looking for them. Not 100% they were an artifact hunter yet didnt see any artifacts where they walked and think I seen a rock popped out of a bar. Well you got to be Fast Maybe its not competition thats bumming you out maybe places arent producing like they used to. My field is like that but I keep trying. As far as creeks go IM opening up A Can.

Interesting about the meteorite! Here's a lil advice that has been beneficial to me... Check out county street guides and in the index look for street names such as arrowhead dr., Indian spring Rd., Indian creek dr.... Arrowhead point dr, Indian axe dr.......... Etc etc From there, google earth area's and look for feild's, creeks, etc..... Hope that help's and goodluck!!(Don't give up!) Jason

I as well feel your pain ClearCreek, I have one spot that produces and it's not giving up the points like I would like to see. I have been exploring new territories hoping to find another location to hunt.....following leads and talking to people. Sooner or later it will pay off....you gotta push through and not lose hope, very frustrating,,,,, yes. Keep at it girl, when you least expect it, you'll be finding some nice stuff.
I have no clue for your area, never been to your part of the world....don't discount those tools your finding though, they are cool in their own way and if your finding tools, there are points in that area as well.......good luck....pep-talk concluded.

You can buy pieces of it in certain places on the internet but as for finding actual pieces in situ, no luck. They claim there was a total of 6 pieces that were found within a couple of days of searching for it. I have found some unique out of this world looking chunks of rock around here though. Just nothing spectacular in the arrowhead arena.
