Oolagah Lake Oklahoma Overhead Map

Ok fellas, I could use some help here. The map I am looking at is at oologah lake ok - Google Maps

I am zooming WAY in and seeing the public access area, several before the dam and one named Basin below the dam area. Which do you think would be a better place to look? These areas can't be seen without zooming in considerably to see the detail of the water and where the dam is located.

Any help with where I should be looking? I'd like to go on Thursday (Today) but before I do I wanted some advice from you all. If the water is high is it a waste of my time to look on the available banks around the edge of the lake?

Really if they are running any water it would be a waste. If there aren't any sandbars exposed with gravel you'd be pressed to find anything. As far as the lake goes, I don't recommend hunting the beaches of a corps lake unless that's just all you have left.

CCB,
This may be of some help to you. It shows the public access and such. Both Corps land and state land.

This one shows current lake levels and general info.

I wish I could give you some advice on where to go or how to look, but I think I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to location and technique.

Corps of Engineers lakes are bad news for point hunting. They can be zealous.

Do you use google earth? It is better than google maps, at least for me, for finding spots. A topo map is also good for finding high spots.

Shiras, thanks for that map because it shows so much in detail such as the creeks surrounding the lake. I wonder if I would have any luck at those creeks instead?

That might be a good idea. I would think anywhere less traveled would yield more potential finds...especially the eastern steep side.
