Paydigs?
I see there is a paydig site in Tx that has some amazing point finds on the main page. Do you really find things that look that cool there? Since we are going to Arkansas this weekend I couldn't help but notice there is the Diamond State Park where you can pay a fee for the day to dig for Diamonds. I know this is a little off the topic of arrowheads, but moreso I was wondering has anyone had luck at the paydigs in Texas for example? And has anyone ever ventured to Diamond State Park?

Ok so I found the answers regarding arrowhead paydigs. But I'm still curious if anyone has tried the Crater Diamond state park where you can dig for diamonds. I just can't wrap my mind around the fact people are finding them left and right.

Massac I will let you know if I end up doing it. There is a place I saw mentioned here called Renagade Ranch off the Ouachita Lake in Arkansas, you can dig for arrowheads there and it had a good reputation from what I read about it here. I wanted so badly to have that on my list of things to do in the next couple of days, but we are going to try to head back to the area in a couple of weeks when we have more time to devote to a project like that. I will keep you posted on it, although my opinion isn't nearly as valuable as those who know what they are looking at and touching.
As for the research I did on the diamonds, it's easy to get starry eyed when you look at any advertising done by those who profit from it. After reading mixed reviews it appears that it's hit or miss when it comes to spending all day out there and finding nothing. In this heat, I'd rather have a little bit higher chance of coming home with something in my pocket ya know? When someone mentioned salting the area with fake points, does that mean they are modern knapped points? |

Went to the crater of diamonds last year. It was pretty fun, really, hot though. no shade unless you get under the pavillion , where the wash pans are, but it is very muddy and messy there. So no good clothes. There was one person that found one out of prolly 150 people or so when we was there. We was there bout 3 hours. But i still enjoyed it. I would go back when it was a little cooler.

Thanks for that info because I have a hard time with the relentless heat with no shade like that. Particularly with no water to cool my body off. I have a form of Lupus that is highly sensitive to UV rays which are so much stronger on those hot days. So I will definitely look into that sort of thing when the weather is more forgiving. I do ok at the rivers and creeks if I can go splash myself with the water or have some shade to sit in, otherwise i get all sorts of dangerously ill. No diamond is worth that I'm afraid! Oh I was going to ask, your 13 and 6 year olds, are they boys/girls? I have a 9 year old daughter that really enjoys the creeks we go to that I can help ya find when you head this direction.

There's absolutely no way I would even attempt a trip to the Crater of Diamonds park in this heat. As I type this we have 105 degrees and no wind, and the park is about a 45 minute drive from me. IMO it would be dangerous to even try it during the hot summer months.
