Interesting cave observations
So staying busy in a new cave I have noticed some interesting things. One is that I only find points as far back as the sunlight will shine in. At the back of the cave is a sinkhole that they tossed trash into. I plan on digging it up to a short depth to see what else may be in it. Very small points found near dripline and larger points farther back. The presence of bone is scattered throughout the cave as far as sunlight will shine back. Anyone else notice any similarities here?

That's a cool observation in my book! Makes ya think! I like shade but I'm lazy, but I guess you need good sunlight to knapp! Can't just turn on a light!!

I see guys that find points way back in dark areas and it used to surprise me. I thought a good fire would make enough light to get these Indians into the big room at the back. But there just isn't anything but trash.

Dug a cave for the first time Sunday. Flakes were everywhere. I didn't start at the drip line. It was too hot for that. Only spent 2-3 hrs working a small area. See the tail end of my 2 Killers Found thread from Sun evening. After finding the micro bird about 25 yards down the hill from the cave it makes me think I'm liable to find more down there.
This cave has a sandy bottom. I am finding the floor to be harder and more compact than I figured. That may be a good thing because somebody has done a little digging there before. Would assume the stuff that has already been sifted would be loose. What is the soil like in your cave?

Alot of chips is all you need to see,,I'd start out at the drip and out in front first, rake back the leaves and ground cover and check that also,,save the cave part for this winter,,when it's too cold and wet outside.
just don't sift on top of what you might want to dig later.

i have always had good luck right outside of a cave, i always figured any work that had to be done was done outside in the light, some good luck where fire was inside or next to walls where fire was, one observation (where i am from anyways), there are some times large sterile gaps in the soil like no one used the cave for along time, even outside there are sometimes gaps where there is no indication of people then there it is again farther down, i dig where i can even if i see someone else has befor ,i check how far down they have dug and go farther if i can , here there was three diffrent peoples with gaps between the new arrivals, i notice here the bones become petrafied when im in the oldest soils the newer stuff isnt petrafied
