Grubber Warning

I was talking with a grubber Friday who has a large hole in his leg, and once it got bad enough to go to the doctor he found out what had caused it.

The first question the doctor asked him was if he had been swimming in dirty or stagnant water. It seems a waterborne parasite had entered his leg through a cut and started reproducing and eating his leg.

I think our friend John Scoggins had a bout with the same bug last year.
I'm surprised they've never tried to munch on me!

Sounds like the same stuff I got into last summer.I had a tiny cut on my left hand that didn't amount to anything.I was grubbing in sand that was in hot water.Whatever it was entered through my cut and spread rapidly up my arm.I'm hard headed and thought it would go away.Got pretty nasty before I went to the doc.A week or two of antibiotics and steroids knocked it out.I hope I never run into it again.

And with all the torture your hands go through in grubbing, it's almost impossible not to get cut/poked/abraised.

This WILL happen on the Peace River in FL. Filthy. Especially during low water or after rains..... Many of our bay beaches are closed after rains due to bad bugs in the water. Too many people and too many of them breeding. Not enough protection for water quality.
