Cooling/Ice Vest opinions?

Not sure where to post this~

I just can't deal with the heat, not just the fact it's like 114 heat index everyday, but even just a normal summer being outdoors for hours on end hunting for arrowheads does a number on my body. I saw that there are ice vests out there that can keep you cool for 2-4 hours. There are many different brands and styles, which is confusing to pick from. But I decided if I was going to buy one I would buy this corset style one for women Kool Max Torso Vest - Polar Products, Inc.

It would be something I'd take advantage of way more often than just hunting for arrowheads since I struggle regulating my body temp.

Do any of you have experience with the cooling/ice vests, if so, what did you think of it?

I never heard of those. You might want to try a mister. They do help a little on really hot days.

My brother does recon for the military. They use a battery operated vest that he says works really well. Currently he's trying to "hook me up".

Lance I was looking at those. My mom had a pack similar to those used in the military for her knee replacemnt recovery. The recirculation packs are pricey though. Anywhere from $400-600+ easily. I went ahead and ordered my ice corset (as i call it) since it was much cheaper than many of the vests I was looking at. Plus this style will be less bulky while I'm at work. I can't wait to get it so I won't be so darn miserable in this heat. It's just more than the human body can handle. Even dipping yourself in the river isn't enough because you practically have to stay neck deep laying in the water to keep from overheating. Which doesn't make for a productive hunting day. I will update you all once I've used it.

Hmmm. Corset region, like lower back? What about a light colored "Camelbak" filled with ice water? Not good for the office but great for an outdoor venture...

CamelBak® - Home

At least ya have cold water for a few hours .

Lol, it just became so clear. Just move further North East...

1 month of miserable heat
7 months of spring and fall
4 months of the Ice Age...

No Joke.

Mud Hawk, here is what I ordered Kool Max Torso Vest - Polar Products, Inc.

I thought about the Camelback for cooling off and keeping hydrated but I've heard that they don't stay cool for very long and they are pricey. I wonder if I could find one cheaper on Ebay. Right now I'm carrying a 1/2 gallon and sometimes a gallon sized drink cooler with me to keep hydrated. But two people can easily go through a gallon in a few hours in this heat.

Who knows, I'll probably be sporting an ice corset and a Camelback before it's said and done.

Hmmm... They all seem like temporary relief really. Have you ever consulted your doctor about it? I have read of natural ways to lower body temp... barley is supposed to lower body heat... I dunno, I would look past consumer products and start exploring roots of high biothermic energy. Metabolism also plays a role.

Camelbacks work pretty good if you half fill them and put em in the freezer the night before you go hiking. Next morning fill it up with water. cheaper, anyway..
