Buffalo Jumps?

We're going to Montana for week next week. I've never hunted in that country. I know there was lots of indian activity there. I've read the buffalo jumps are where points are found. All my points have come out of Eastern Oregon. We've hunted every inch of that lakebed country for thirtyfive years. Hunting in Montana is a different game than I'm used to. Any ideas on out of the way buffalo jumps or tips on Montana hunting?- Denio

Welcome...

The Diamond Bar is open again in Denio

But back to Montana...I'd love to go back as my memories of everywhere in the state have been fond...For an outdoorsman It seems to be nothing short of a wonderland in the Summer months.
I spent close to 3 months in the Pintler Valley around Philipsburg on a job
( Rock Creek/formerly Rocking K ranch) and wasn't much into hunting then however I know there was some good sites there..
Fly Bummed around the Madison, Gallatin and Missouri river systems for a few weeks after highschool and some of the marshy areas look like the Malheur around the Narrows .
Just talked with a fellow contractor last month who owns property in Catlow Valley. He dug a Jump site off and on for a summer in Montana( private ) and had an AMAZING collection just from that site. He said it was the hardest he ever worked for artifacts..this old concrete guy's words rang true as he looked about as hard as a coffin nail.
I think the real trick is finding a site that is on private land and getting permission.

Hey Denio if you find a good spot give me a holler my dad is up in Roundup for the summer he has several strokes and the weather down in Oklahoma is bad for him if you don't want to bother with it you don't have to .

Bufallo Jumps

Well back from Montana. No Points. Went to Ulm Pishkun jump near Great Falls. No hunting there. Points were dug there years ago. You would need to find a private site. Didn't see much of anywhere in western Montana that would be good surface hunting. To much grass. There was one sagey sandy looking area below Flathead Lake in a hotspring area. Couldn't stop though.
