New to MO/AR...

Hi All,

I recently moved to southeast MO area (Poplar Bluff; Corning, AR area) from Tucson, AZ. I never had problems finding world-class prehistoric/historic relics in my home state of Arizona, but this new environment is completely foreign to me. I am just geographically ignorant of my new home.
Anyone in the area want to get together for a hunt?
Any tips for hunting when fields are planted and creeks, etc. are running high?

Warmest regards!

Erik

Welcome to the site! Theres a few members here from down around your area...
I'm about 20 miles south of downtown St. Louis in Jefferson County.

Best of luck finding some new sites. I would explore every chance I got.
Google earth is a good way to explore the local area. Find creeks/feilds etc...
Getting permission is the hard part...

Jason

Welcome from further South in AR. You should be in a decent area for collecting, just need someone to show you a little and find some land to hunt on there.

Welcome from further South in AR too.

Is that close to Crowley's Ridge? You're up there in great territory... Dalton and Cache Rivers, Mississippian stuff.

Yes welcome from north Cen Ark,,gotta be alot of relics in that area,,,just visit with with the local old timmers,,they can tell you alot,,and even get you in places others can not. they always know who owns what piece of land, and remember if and when they were ever plowed,,they also know were any caves or shelters might be. I love old folks.s

I think you will be happy with the new grounds you are hunting. Almost every waterway in missouri has artifacts in or nearbye it, just takes a little patience, but I'm sure you have plenty of that. try to get to know any owners of fields near your local waterways now and by the next plow, theres no doubt you will be finding artifacts. Here in central MO, I have some success in creeks, and especially small drainage ditches and tributaries that lead to creeks or rivers. check out Youtube for missouri arrowhead hunting and you will learn alot quick. Good Luck!
