can arrowheads be found in Connecticut?

I am in CT and have always wanted to find an arrowhead or other artifact.. I know it's easier said than done, but was hoping to get pointed in the right direction?

If nothing in CT, where would be the closest place to look?

Any help would be good

Thanks

Welcome! Seems like the ranks of New Englanders are growing on the forum. I'm sure once Cgode picks this up he'll be much more capable of helping you, he's from Ct. As far as I know hunting down by you isn't much different than it is up here in Mass, and I have the most luck looking where tributaries meet the Connecticut River. What part of Connecticut are you from?

Yes.
I found artifacts around Candlewood Lake a long time ago... Connecticutt is loaded, you just have to find the spots, just like any other state. Check creeks, rivers, fields, etc etc.

Welcome to the forum Cousin Larry, what part of the State are you in?......To answer your question, yes, Ct. has arrowheads and other artifacts. You just need to know where to start. I'll give you any info you want after I figure out where your back yard is.....hopefully your in my neck of this small State.

Nope, no arrowheads can be found north of the Mason Dixon line...it's like some kinda law or something.

haha... Well I figured there was something, just didn't know what!

I live right outside of Waterbury - Central/South CT. I work in Meriden..

I guess I just never knew where to start looking. I can find fossils because I know what/where I'm looking. But Indian artifacts just seems like they'd be tough to find because you never know exactly where to look.

Thanks for any help though! I'd love to add an artifact to my collection!

Look for plowed land near water sources cuz....what river is that that runs right next to Rt 8?.....I'm not sure which one it is but I would start by asking permission in plowed fields along the river..........you can also look at eroded banks at low water.
I'm down on the shoreline in Middlesex county, not all that far from you really....an hour at most?

What type of fossils do you find......never found one myself and always thought it would be cool.

This monster is from Connecticut and was found on the beach. It's almost 4 inches long. This was a gift from a member here for my states collection.
