Movin to San Antonio

Well Im going to be moving to san antonio in February and am calling out to anyone and everyone for any information on where to get started hunting in this area. Or better yet if anyone is looking for a hunting buddy i am available. Im totally clueless on how to hunt/dig texas style, but am really looking forward to starting a collection from the area, and maybe goin to some artifact shows. Thanks in advance!

soldier, wish I could help you with specifics, but I'm from RI. I was in the San Antonio area years ago when my sister lived over in Houston. It's Texas Hill Country and wanted you to know you are moving to a very beautiful part of Texas. I remember shallow creeks and cottonwoods, but don't know the legalities hunting creeks in Texas. I imagine the severe drought must be affecting Hill Country these days. Anyway, just wanted you to know, whatever the case is where hunting arrowheads is concerned, I think you will love the area you're moving to!

CMD yes it is a very nice place, i was there for a few months in 08, but i never got out much than. The assignment i took was in BAMC for 6 years so I plan on doing as much arrowheadin all over texas as possible. A lot of thought went into where i would ask to be assigned, and SA fits the bill. I get one of the great jobs in the army, and put in a very hunter friendly state.

I think you made a very good choice and I'm sure you'll be able to tie up with some helpful people soon. There have been (still are) some good pay digs just to the west.

I think it was a good choice, for career and hopefully points as well. Im getting anxious to find something other than obsidian, and learn how to dig. Ryno I look forward to meeting you and learning the ways. Does anyone know of what paydigs are worthwhile near san antonio so i can look em up? I have about a week of sitting and waiting for my return flight.....

Smart move. Be glad aren't going to Ft. Sill! Ugh!

There are lots of places to hunt in that area, you should do well.
