Wilson County Sand Pit

Anyone ever gone on a dig at the WCSP? Worth it? Any luck?

Best time of year to go if you don't want heat stroke?

wilson county sand pit has been closed as an arrowhead dig for a while now. it wasn't really open for pay dig-it was a working sandpit. one group had a pay dig not far from the WCSP and it was dug for a short time. now the area is patrolled and not open for hunting.

if you want to hunt in texas use the Austindiggers.com website. if you contact michelle she will help you get on currently available producing sites.

if the wilson county sandpit was open for pay dig i would be there right now.

We would probably be standing in line together waiting our turn! It would be worth it!

Thanks, guys! I stumbled across a web site (undated) that indicated that the pay dig was an ongoing concern...they really should take it down before some poor Canadian boy wastes a side trip!

Wilson County Sand Pit

That's probably the old pay dig site close to the WCSP that Bob McWilliams had leased and operated.

So my curiousity is now officially "piqued".
Bob McWilliams is indeed the name on the site. Nothing appears to have been updated since 2004. The email address for the "Texas Amateur Archaeological Association" that ran the dig goes nowhere.

Anyone?
