Staying hydrated READ

It got me thinking after reading the Pecos Tradgety...
I used to go trek the desert for hours carrying bottles of water, then I decided to get a Camel Bak. If you have not tried one, I suggest you do, it will be one of the best investments you have made, I promise you that. I own 3
The water rests on your back evenly distributed, so there are no bulging pockets or stuff in your hands.
I used to base my hunts off how much water I had, now I can literally go 8 miles on a summer day now with a camel bak and a boonie hat, thats alot of walking .
As a treat we will fill them with ice, and while out constantly feeling the weight as to not run out. You can go through 3 liters pretty quick
Again, If you havent tried one your missing out

WHO ALL ON HERE USES A CAMEL BAK? MOST OF THE DESERT RATS IM SURE

I never venture that far from my vehicle on my hunts so I usually just take a couple bottles of water with me if it's a very warm day. But I could see where you guys that hunt parts of the desert and walk miles from your vehicles would need something like that.

I use one all the time and I don't live near the desert. I start hiking in late winter looking for antlers and theres still snow on the ground. I used to get thirsty but wouldn't want to stop to take my pack off. Now its perfect I drink and concentrate better and don't stop moving.

I love them. I used to hike, guzzle, hike some more, guzzle, etc. I'd go from overheated and dehydrated to being too full of water. It's a lot easier to stay hydrated when you are just taking sips all the time.

Got 2 camelbacks and yes, during the Desert hikes i have one on my back, under my Day pack.. which carries 2 bottles of water beside.. i drink constantly in the Desert ..

You oughta see us when we fish the Pangas down in the sea of Cortez.. we have 6 two liter bottles Each in the ice chest.. drinking water all the time during our June & July trips down there..

Locally Now i carry 4 one liter bottles with me and usually have a 1/2 filled bottle left when i get back to my Truck...

I always drink water when outdoors..because it's too late if you wait until you notice your thirsty... Drink it Up...
