Woodland campsite question

Hi guys and gals.I could use some help determing the best place to consider digging OUTSIDE of a rock shelter. So far, I have dug the fire pit right beside the opening to a low ceiling rock shelter.Pulled a few Woodland period birdpoints(mostly broken) a knapping stone, and a tool box full of debitage.I know most people would say "right past the drip line",but would it not seem like they would also camp closer to the creek that is aproximately 15yards in front of said shelter? Would you look for the closest high spot on the creek bank? Or do you think they would have just did their daily chores on the incline closer to the shelter? Thought maybe somebody would have an educated guess or experience with such a situation. Thanks for taking the time to read.Happy hunting.Eric

From what I have seen people saying and personal experience, you can find anything at any time, you just never know where the find of a lifetime will be laying.

This is so true,,,Just for one example.....

I have been curious about a shelter that has been dug up pretty good. They focused the digging on the inside plus various spots drip-line and out...(I'm sure they were making some great finds!

However,,,they for whatever reason, quit digging. Well, I focused at this locale in my latest youtube video and tested some new areas. I found everything but a sweet Dickson point on a hill directly to the side of shelter and a dripline run-off drainage low-lying gully (away from the shelter,,to the side and up high) The Dickson was found 20 ft away from shelter at 2ft deep!

Hey, Eric,,,Have you ever been to Olive Branch Site near Thebes?

Thanks for the input everybody.Just trying to save myself some unnecessary very difficult work.

Jason,I have never been to Olive branch, but I use to work with a guy who lives in Olive branch. He would always talk about his arrowhead hunting. At the time,I wasnt really in to hunting. I understand it is a hotbed for points.

Thanks again everyone.Eric
