You know it! I hit a layer two foot below the Martindale layer in red/tan sandy loam just full of orange stained chert/flint. Its deep enough and I think this may be what I've been looking for.

I'd really like to meet you and your posse Indi but I'm a Thur/Fri digger. I met up with TexasNative today for a dig and we did pretty good. He got lots of in-situ shots and a photo of my killer Uvalde from yesterday. I believe they should get posted in the not too distant future. Phil's a great guy and we had some decent conversations digging together. Nice Pedernales, Ensor, and smallish round base knife. Lots of tools as well. I think Aggie Digger is coming out next Friday and I look forward to meeting him as well.

I made it down to Starr today for my first dig. Marc aka MidlandMan was there also and went out of his way to show me around and let me dig with him to learn the ropes. He scored 3 nice points today and a beauty yesterday. I found a few broken tips and bases. Here are some pics

Pick your dirt well Brother! I cant be there but cross the spring go to the top and aprox. 75 yards you'll see some fresh digging from today. Dig down to the rock in the area that you can tell hasnt been disturbed. Look for dense concentration of chert/flint chips and move as much dirt as you can efficiently go through. If you dont see large amounts of debitage move. We picked around five areas quickly today until I was happy with the flint and then we concentrated on that for the next four hours and it paid off. Small thinning flakes, not the big chunky stuff is what your looking for. Best of luck!!
