Question for you guys that use foam. Where do you get it? What is it normally used for?

I like blue because almost every color of point looks good on it.

After using many different color choices as background I keep coming back to standard white because I think it doesn't take anything away from the artifacts true color. I like to put quartz on a darker background because it doesn't really work well with white. Jmo, to each their own.

ghost - You are making magic with whatever color you choose. Each of those arrangements and displays are extra special in many ways. What is also clear to me is that each one has been configured with the touch of an artist.

Make the backing the color of dirt/.imo. Those points you have will look outstanding with any backing.

I personally would avoid the colored foam. As it ages you pull out a piece and the foam is stuck to it. Backing is pretty much ruined and you have to start cleaning your artifacts.

Just my experience with two wooden frames. No damage to my flint, just a hassle. On that note I have a frame with deteriorated red foam that needs replaced, really liking the way the light sky blue posted worked with various colors of artifacts. Thinking of going that route.

Lightbulb "Case" in point...

Never in direct sunlight or exposed to extreme conditions. Perhaps just a bad batch of foam? FWIW, the frame and foam liner are 10-12 years old...deterioration began several years ago.
