A personal favorite Book in regards to Rock Art sites in my general vicinity..

Amazon.com: A Guide to Rock Art Sites: Southern California and Southern Nevada (9780878423323): David S. Whitley: Books

Whitley cuts thru a lot of conflicting View points as to the symbols' meanings.. The directions are easy and straightforward so you can get to the locations quickly... The color Photos of the Locations fit the descriptions very well..

My #1 Book about Rock Art sites of Southern California (& Southern Nevada)...

I'd be interested in picking this one up. Where did you find it for sale?

[b]Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley[b] by Squire and Davis. This book was originally printed in 1848 and I believe was the first book the Smithsonian put out. If you are into the mound builders of Ohio it is a must have. The maps appear all the time in other books and articles I read. It is available in reprint.

Ok... I broke down and purchased a copy of "Silent arrows; Indian lore and artifact hunting by Earl F. Moore" from Amazon.com. I could only locate three copies on the net, I purchased the cheapest of the three for $47.50 - also happens to be author signed - bonus :-)

Terry Baxter wrties as a review... "This one reads like Earl's own private diary, of visiting sites and having great successes "back in the day"... He's an old time hunter, and a brave one at that, who has a casual and somewhat entertaining writing style. This book has A LOT of black and white photos to drool over, many of them taken "out in the field". He does mention specific sites and shows his personal finds from these sites, although he doesn't provide useful maps to get there, still an entertaining read."

Thank you Questor for the lead...

PNW-R/David - You are very welcome, good to hear you were able to chase one down for a better price than I was aware of any that were available at the time of my post. It's definitely a fun read. You will be wishing you had been born 50-100 years earlier by the time you are done with it. And how about those multiple In-Situ shots? Holy crap! I'll bet that was an actual occurrence for hunters back in the early blow-out find days. Maybe consider checking back in with your own review here, once you have finished it. Enjoy,,,~questor~
