I don't know, looks like an unfinished paleo type or possible Dalton preform imo. Interesting piece.

Though these were found north of type location I say these are Early Triangular.

I'm in the 'I don't know' category but it looks late paleo/transitional to me.

Thanks guys... This thing had alot of views and no comments for awhile. I figure it had the hole forum stumped... I really have not got the same answer from a few of you pros... I agree that its probably trans paleo, paleo.... I'll just put it in a case till the next show... Thanks for taking a crack at it for me.....

Alot of books use the term early archaic instead of paleo/transitional, if you check dalton you all will see what I mean.

Some pieces cross the timeline and existed during paleo times and early archaic times so to call those early archaic is "off" in my opinion. I think this piece has that Late Paleo/trasitional look.

OK Dave I meant 10,000 - 8000 B.P. time frame if that helps.
In south central area the times above are early archaic but north central the same type and age is considered transitional paleo aint that crazy? Or how about Eden Dave? Last edited by Fluff effect; 04-21-2011 at 10:19 AM. Reason: 1 More edit then done:) |
