Lunate Crescents (Quarter to half moon) Great Basin

Lunate crescents are another style of crescent found in the Great basin, mainly in Nev. Ore. and Calif. There is debate over their use, I think lunate crescents were a hand held scraper that was very specific to its use. They are a paleo to very early archaic toolName: CAM_0936.jpg

You're killing me! They were used as little boomerangs to decapitate ducks and geese.

What a great group of artifacts. Are they always found along the shore line of Dry lake beds ?

Most of mine are broken. They are way harder to find on this side of the G.B. Notice the straight ones. I was confused by them at first. But I'm pretty sure they are crescents because they were found with other crescents and both are ground in the center.

Yep, many of them are. That's what lead to the theory that they may of been hafted traversely. Some people even call them Great Basin Traverse points.
