Small group of Maine points

Something Lighter?

Things regarding collecting are alot different here in Maine. I think I'm the only "collector" that knows how to use a computer, and to date I have never heard or seen anything close to a fake from here. Most of the rivers here have evidence on the forks to tributaries, and there is still very few people compared to most of the east. A sample you might find.

Zach- the point, top-row, second from the right, is the NH, Mt Jasper Rhyolite. unfortunately this piece was cooked from historic era fires that were made above it about 6"

Good looking Points Mike. Other than the different materials those Point could all have came from southern Ohio. Very similar to our types here.

thanks Maine is known as the vacation state and it was the same back 10500yrs ago when the ice left here. Paleo tourist visited but probably based near the Mass border, and Conn. River valley more. The early archaic has some unusually stuff and bifuricates. Middle archaic starts with the Neville/Starks- top right two, followed by a couple unsustained groups, only to be inundated by the Susquahanna groups and their point types -top left points. bottom are asymetrical knives and can be found from Fla to Me, bottom right two have ground stems so they have problems fitting, possibly french tourists from north of here.
M

George, we had a few days of winter back a month ago. wet since then and warmer than you today. soon I hope!

Mike,

We have a family camp on Lake Parmachenee. I have not tried to find points on it or along the Magollaway, but I know that some very famous Paleo sites are in the area. Any advice? Want to get together next summer when I go up there?
Regards,
Jon Dickinson.

Mike, I love the variety, especially the dark green pieces. That Mt. Jasper stuff looks different than I had imagined it, pretty cool. Looks like I'll have to get up to Maine next year, I was under the impression that everything from new england had to be ugly
