I love those.
What can you tell us about the age and origin?

We have always called them Russian trade beads. The Russians had a fort called fort Ross here on the on the pacific ocean north of San Francisco Bay from 1812 - 1841 . The beads are probably older than that. Here's another strand from today glass seed beads try stringing these up with old tried eyes.

Very nice Beads Dennis. I have a strand that looks just like the one in your first picture. Really sets off my California tray quite nicely.

I believe those came from the old homestead at American Flat Kelsey Ca.

Thumbs up

Great big Pile of Beads Dennis!!! I've found about 35 blue and TINY white glass beads this year in the Columbia River..They are hard to find here even in sites where I know they exist in large numbers. The rains have certainly helped wash them out of the sands and recently we have found few Reds.

Here most of them where traded from Hudson Bay Co in the early 1800's..but there is some evidence they came from early traders into the Mouth of The Columbia(Including Lewis & Clark whose Fort Clatsop I can see from my house )

I'll post some photos of mine tonight as they are very similar.
