Flint Type Reference

Hello everyone,can anyone point me torward where a good place on the net where i can print pictures of the different kinds of flint types of North America? im trying to educate myself on the differnt types. any help will be greatly appreciated. Happy Hunting

Here are 3 reference guides you can use. My favorite one is lithicsnet because they give a more detialed description and also give you similar Point examples to check out. My least favorite is the Overstreets, but lots of people swear by it so I included it for you. Hope this helps you out.

I think he means types of material, rather than types of points.

This is the best lithic types resource page I've found online. It's unfinished and still a work in progress I believe but depending on where you live it can be really helpful.

Thanks Steve and Ghost,i should have worded that differently,but i was talking about flint material types. buffalo river chert,dover chert,ETC.....

"Prehistoric Chert Types of the Midwest" by Tony DeRegnaucourt is a book worth getting. I HIGHLY recommend it! I looked through the internet and nothing comes even close to it.

This is a good book.

I also learned a lot by asking people at shows.

My bad. I guess I should have read it a little closer. The link Ghost gave you is really good for materials and the book that Mark mentioned is the Bible for midwestern Flint types.
