2011 - My Year in Artifacts!

Time to take stock of the year and see how it treated me. I haven't actually run the numbers in my book yet, but I have been careful to frame every find this year by site, and this is the result!

First of all, the entire annual haul - about 207 complete artifacts.

Now let's look at them by site. With our record drought, it was not a good year on the Sulphur River, but I did manage to find a few there - not much of any quality, though. Only two pieces in the whole case that aren't Ogallala quartzite! All from Fannin and Delta Counties.

This next set is all from my native Hunt County, TX. Some decent quality, but it took lots of hunts to fill this case! The big Wells is probably the best find there, but that black Calf Creek woulda been a HUMMER!!!

These next three frames are from Limestone County, TX. It was some pretty awesome hunting down there this year, and I made a bunch of trips! First the best dart points and knives:

Then the incredible arrow points and drills:

And then the "pooter frame". Still some goodies in there even!!!

This last little set represent my Central Texas haul from my one trip to Doug's back in June.

And the Hardstone!

We don't get much hardstone around here, but here are two nice nutting stones:

AND my two Waco sinkers for the year!

All in all, a pretty darn good year - not my record (that was '06), but well above average with some decent quality. I forgot to pick out my "Best of '11", but there they all are, so which do you think is best??

Thanks for looking!

Great looking finds this for 2011 Lewis. For you guys having a huge deficit in rainfall you still did very well for the year. Very impressive in my book.

Congrats on a solid year and for posting the pictures for us to peruse.

Nice finds! It would take me three years to find that many pieces.

Looks like a good year Indy. To bad about the ear on that plainview blunt. And that Andice is killer.

That's a great year in my opinion Lewis. Site-specific frames are the way to go IMO, nicely done.
