Primary Flake

Flakes that have some rind or cortex remaining. Representing the first removals from a core quite often they tell alot about the material and the shape of the core. This one looks to have been a stream cobble and the platform is well made but a very stingy flake was driven off.
Not always used much this sample was found just east of Pittsburg Pa and I believe is made from a well traveled central Ky material. I got this when I bought a small collection from the Family of the finder on ebay back in 1999 and visited the sight in 2005. note the dings, from kids playing with the piece they placed no value on, something I appreciate because it gives me a look inside the patina.
show me yours?

Now these are my kind of artifacts. Something about the uniqueness, function, and simplicity in these types of tools. Great stuff.

I have two from Tx that B Arnold dug at over 10 feet on the Lampasas but they are not pretty.
Also a personal find from Or and the Glass Butes back in 1987

I really love the flake tools. I always pick them up. Great variety of shape and color. Now its a problem what to do with them all.
