"storage hunters" on tru tv channel

Did anyone catch the "the storage hunters" episode last night? I don't watch, but was just flipping by, and saw someone discover some modern reproduction arrows, that he was calling old & authentic, along with a junk frame of flint, that he put a price of $2000. What a laugher, I wouldn't pay $20 for all of it. I know the show is a put on, and meant to get people worked up, about finding hidden treasures, but what a sham, shame on the folks. I really feel sorry for the folks that do this for a living, for I've read that these shows have done nothing but drive up the crowds & buy prices.

I saw that, I LOL when he said $2000 for that frame of brokes. At least on the other show, Storage Wars they take stuff they aren't familiar with and get it appraised.

I actually have a good story about finding some authentic arrowheads in a storage unit. guy sold me a decent size cherry cordial box of "flint tools" for what he had in the unit. I open the box and right there on top is an almost 5" hopewell, most of the pieces had honest field dings but at the bottom I found this piece wrapped in a piece of paper towel. A 3" clovis!! Oh, and the cake was that the complete history about the pieces was written on the inside top of the box. Enjoy the pics. Scott

Man that's a nice point. Is that Coshocton flint? If you don't mind saying, how much did you pay?

I saw an ad in the paper for a local storage auction of 13 or so lockers in Miami and I went to watch.

A guy walks up to me and says that he'll be happy to help me move any furniture I buy and he'll haul away the rest of the junk for $150.

I started to talk with him and he said he used to buy lockers, but now it seems that every NEW person that goes tries to get a locker on their first time and the pricing has just gotten too high. He used to buy lockers to sell stuff at swap meets, but now now rarely buys unless it just happens that no one new goes. He just hangs around while people tear through boxes looking for home run treasures, and then gets paid to take the stuff away (which he sells at the swap meet.)

He didn't seem too disapointed with the popularity of the show.

American Pickers has had the same affect on people at Flea Markets. They now think everything they have is a priceless antique. I actually had one lady tell me she saw the same item on AP and it was valued at X amount. I just laughed and moved on.

Yeah, I agree those shows are putting the idea into peoples heads that their crap is now priceless. American Pickers especially. I'd like to see actual proof of their resell profits because I think they're F.O.S.

I've been to the Pickers shop, Antique Archaelogy. They seem to do a pretty good business. I think most of what they buy, they already have someone in mind for it.
