My nice pottery shards over past few years!
A few rare type designs in 3... only ones I seen like that, including one piece of punched pottery.

Here is a purple stone (hoe)? It has white specs in the material. Anyone know what this material could be? It looks like in the 2nd pic that it might of been worked/chipped a little bit so the hand would fit more smoothly around it. I'm sure it was used to dig a hole or two anyway...

Cool shards, I like the rim peices the most. Have you been able to glue any of it together?
The material in that other peice looks like a variety of Rhyolite, which is found North of you in abundance Thanks for posting. I know the Cape G area is well known for head pots and intricate designs on pottery. Mmm sure would like to find a head pot!! |

FWIW, etc., etc., Archie's tend to use shard for pieces of glass and sherd or potsherd for pottery pieces. However sherd is technically just a variant of the word shard. All is good.

Rhyolite is pretty heavy and it's found in small and large irregular cobble forms in a variety of colors in that certain river we were gonna go to last year. Not as heavy as hematite,,
Can't tell from your pic, but it appears to be a shade of faded purple. Here's a couple of points to compare it to, showing some of the varieties of Rhyolite colors. ![]()
