Walnut Creek Biface

Photo's of the infamous Walnut Creek Biface found by Steve Ashley in 2006, that's Steve in the 1st photo holding the piece. The property it was found on belongs to the City of Austin, part of their Greenbelt Project, and sometime in the future will be made into a hike and bike trail along Walnut Creek. The Texas Historical Commission confiscated this piece from Steve a couple of years ago by court action. It's now housed in the Texas Archaeological Research Lab in Austin, never to be seen again by the public, what a shame. I was fortunate enough to actually hold this magnificent blade, it was in my possession for a couple of weeks thanks to Steve. I made a mold of it and cast it.

Glad you were able to jump on that one when you had the chance, Johnny.
Definitely a piece worthy of study.

Are the casts available for purchase ?

I remember the drama about this at the time - his huge mistake was telling the archies where he found it. He was trying to do the right thing, and had the find of a lifetime taken away. Kind of makes you wonder if honesty really IS the best policy!

Being discreet IS the best policy when finding something like that .-----
