Quik Yadkin quetsion??
I found a point earlier in 2011 here in NE Ga. that I'm on the fence with. I thought it was a yadkin and took it to a artifact show. There I was told that it could be a Yadkin or a Dalton. What would I need to look for to tell the difference? I found it in a local creek so the side are some what smooth. Though one fella at the showed said it felt ground to him. It's is also beveled, would that matter? Any help would be great!
Thanks Ga. Rob |

Daltons are often beveled in the resharpening process, and almost always ground in the hafting area, they also typically have shoulders. You don't see any of those characteristics on the Yadkin, which came along several thousand years after Dalton.

Like Ryan said, I have never seen a beveled Yadkin, so if it's beveled it's most likley a Dalton. Do you have any pictures you can post for us to look at?

Sorry.. only pic I have for now
So, does the beveling say that it's not a Yadkin? |

Pretty tough to see even on this big screen but it looks slightly shouldered, and if it's beveled I'd say Dalton is most likely. Jmo.
