Here's one my buddy just bought. He paid around $100 for it.
Comes with a Rogers COA, and is from Tx
Anyway, he wants a little info from you guys that know grooves axes.
Is it a good example?,, What's it worth,, etc. Any help is appreciated

I have found a total of 7 in 34 years of collecting in NE Texas - so yes, they are very rare and that is an exceptional example! The only area I knew of where they were fairly common is the now-forbidden Lake Wright Patman near Texarkana. In days of yore, when the Corps of Engineers was tolerant of artifact collecting on their lakes, there were hundreds of those things found there. My best axe was a black hematite one that now resides in Bill German's collection - dadgummit!!!! >:-(

Thanks guys
Indy, what do you think its worth?
Is it worth the $100 he paid for it?
If I found it, I'd say priceless

Looks like a nice example especially for a rare Tx. axe. I find the same style of full groove axes around here. I found one just like it about three years ago, really the only difference is material. I'd say it's worth a Benjamin and then some.

Considering the rarity there in Texas, its condition, and then also the overall quality of workmanship and balance; I'd hafta say heck ya your buddy did great on that one!
