Some artifacts I found on a little hunt yesterday afternoon.
First time this year that I was able to walk a local site "creek", and it turned out to be a beautiful day and not so bad a hunt!!! So, I thought I'd share... Can anyone help me out with some typology, these where found in North Central Arkansas.

Good finds.Looks like a couple of the bases might be Dalton related. If you're getting stuff that old then you're in the right spot.I like how that dark point is beveled.Don't know what to call it but its nice.

Justin,,,the black "Pitkin" point I would guess Rice Sidenotched,,could be an another older Archaic side notched type ,,kinda looks like both in the picture. to me this is one that sure needs to be held in the hands to be able to tell for sure. I don't see how you can find anything in our rocky creeks up here,, I'm in Mtn View.

Thanks guys for the feedback. The area I walk has a large sand beach and is an area that I have found close to 30% of my collection or so. Man, I love the outdoors and anytime I can get out there its just a bonus to find some decient artifacts. Can't help it if I live in God's Country "Ozark Mountains".

just so that everyone knows,,,,Panola Don was up here in the Ozarks a little over a year ago,,went to a couple cave shelter combos and later was walking the creek gravel bars,,but here it's all gravel,,creek bottom and all along the banks,,both sides. anyway as we were walking looking for knapable stone,,,I looked down and for the "first" time in my life I saw a point laying fully exposed in the gravel. Don said,,,,see I told you they were here........
....my guess is you could walk that same creek,,,that has a site on boths of it,,,,for weeks at a time and never find another,,,,,maybe this fall Don will prove me wrong. these creeks up here really get to roaring afer big rains.wash away a steel ball bearing as if it were a marshmallow.but he was right on bout the pie thing.

George, your right about that! Most of the places I get to hunt are changed thoroughly every time it rains and are the either mostly gravel or rough and gladey, but I still find them. It's not always the easiest task "I have to work for it", but I am rewarded on occasions. I do however know of some great sand beaches and bars close to here and I have had pretty good luck with them. We should get together sometime and I'll show you a place or two. I'm a Mountain Home native and 3rd generation and have some ties to some great private property.
