Great Basin treasures

These are all reruns but it's been awhile since they've been posted. Good luck to everyone that's able to hunt this winter.

So many awesome finds here. Always a thrill to see. Hard to pick a fave. But for some reason my eyes keep locking up on the painted pony split tail Elko. I'd be ecstatic to find and posses any ONE of these fine artifacts. The tri-nothchers and knives are tops in my book too. What are you typing the long slender ones as?

I see you broke out your box of skittles again! More colorful than a basket of easter eggs. Those are incredible colors and superb points. You must be the only person in the country with a purple arrowhead. No better lithics in the world than Nevada! How about posting that tiger striped Silver Lake on this post. I love that point. Might be my all time favorite!

Thanks Mike.......that Elko is a favorite of mine too. I think the long ones are early Rose Springs. I'm not sure if they are darts or arrows though. I believe they were made right at the time that they were transitioning from the atlatl to the bow.

Thanks Eric.......the purple one is Utah agate. The Colorado Plateau area of Utah is loaded with beautiful colorful agates. But the area has been pounded to death forever so it's hard to find stuff. Years ago I was hunting a spot in Utah that had the most beautiful completely translucent purple agate flakes I have ever seen. I tried and tried and tried to find a point made of it to no avail. Ol' tiger stripe is one of my all time favorites too.

Wow Floyd. I love that tiger striped Silver Lake. What a piece of material. Have you found a point or flakes of that type anywhere else? Where is it quarried from? It is incredible! It looks so much like that green sugar quartz Silver Lake I found in the upper Mojave desert. Thanks for posting that again.
