Beautiful Bannerstone W/Many Questions

I visited an old friend today out in Maryland who sits on a huge collection of artifacts from all over the country. After buying quite a few plains points (my addiction!) from him, he showed me this bannerstone from ohio and asked if I would be interested in it. I declined as it is COMPLETELY out of my collecting scope and range. Plus, I have always recalled that the one's made out of beautiful material such as this one went for a good chunk of change. After he told me what he'd take for it (much less than I believe it is worth), I decided to buy it as his wife has health issues and he is trying to liquidate.

Needless to say, I have some questions: What is this material? Is the southern Ohio provenance consistent with the characteristics of the piece? Also, I could not find an exact match to this style on a quick Google search so I'm curious what style or attribution it might have.

I'll post about 5 or 6 pictures and would love it if you all would chime in with your knowledge of a piece I don't usually collect.

If you want it, I'd like to get more plains flint so trades or cash offers are very interesting to me though my thread is not intended to be an advertisement; I'm truly interested in learning about this thing while I own it. Thanks in advance. Pics to Follow!

The pics came out a little dark (sorry). The material is translucent cream and pinkish-reddish in color. The damage appears to be ancient. I'm no bannerstone authenticator but this thing looks great to me. Plus, this gentlemen has always sold me good relics and guarantees them or money back should they not pass the test. Can't wait to learn a thing or two about bannerstones here!

One more thing...who do I send this to for authentication? Is there a bannerstone expert who everyone has some faith in?

Wow! That piece is gorgeous. Looks good to me! Im sure the experts will chime in on what you asked about. Reminds me of sunset glory material. What a banner!

Thanks 10pointer. So far I've received the suggestion to send it off to Davis. I hope more folks can offer some ideas and suggestions here. I'm starting to get itchy to find out about this piece.

Get hold of Jon Dickinson, pointdlr on here, and have him take a look at it. I've seen some similar, just not with wings that thin. Don't recall ever seeing anything made of that material and I've been collecting in southern Ohio for almost 50 years. That doesn't mean it's not good, just odd material.
