Dovetail sub-types

Hello,

Can anyone on here share the different sub-types of dovetails? I heard there's 7 different styles...

I have heard of button base, broad base and center notched, but can anyone elaborate on the other sub-types?

Thank you,

Shane

According to Robert Elder in ' Early Archaic Indian Points and Knives ' there are 9 types of St. Charles points. A book I've been meaning to get a hold of. The rare clipped wing variant, fractured base, and the Hardove are some I can add to your list off the top of my head.

You'd probably be interested in these two links.

Some serious eyecandy in that first link.

I think they have that book at a local trading post sorta place near me. I'll certainly have to get it now - thanks for the heads up!

My goal is to create a display case with all 9 sub-type base examples; ideally ALL in 1st stage. It's a lifetime goal of mine, as I'm certain it will take some time (and MONEY) to achieve...
