An interesting Cody complex points/lithic

This is a picture from an article I've written on the northern lithic influence on Cody Complex points in eastern Colorado. It will appear in PA sometime this year. These points are all found in eastern Colorado. The Cody Knife on the right is from a kill site on Cherry Creek near Denver, and the others are South Platte finds in Logan County. I sent pictures of this stone to a number of plain's archaeologists and no one can identify it. I think it is some type of lithic from the Wyoming/Montana border, but interestingly, I've only seen it in eastern Colorado in relationship to Cody complex artifacts. It is solid black but a little translucent on the edges, but it isn't obsidian. Anyway, I thought you all might enjoy a sneak preview.

The first picture is the assemblage mentioned. The second is the insitu of the Eden--poor picture taken with a cell phone. It was found just before dark in July of 2011. My wife and son were hunting with our young friend when he found this point on the last bar above the bridge! It made an excellent day even better. The 3rd picture is of the Eden, but taken before it was cleaned off. This is one of the best I've ever seen. Tom

Beautiful lithic for sure. What is the type name of the broken stemmed point in the left upper corner? It looks like it has good basal grinding even on the bottom of the ear/shoulder.

Wow, unbelievable finds!

That Eden looks like the twin to one from the Finley site - similar size, workmanship, etc... The Finley one has tip damage though.

So sweet Tom. The only stand alone culture that I know of on the border would be Yonkee, but its no where near as old as Cody. Cool tool a mystery for sure. That Eden is so so sweet.

Superb! Beautiful material and beautiful artifacts both. That Eden is now one of the best I have ever seen too. So thanks for the opportunity.

Tom that is an outstanding Eden.
I hope your young friend knows how unlikely he is to ever top that one!
Thanks for the look,
David
