no really would you consider this a dalton? just curious from Texas.
sorry that was not ment to be mean, I just noticed that you joined in January and I am just trying to welcome you and this has been a hot topic since I have joined. it also has me thinking outside the box but I just cant wrap my mind around the fact when I need to punch a hole in something shape is everything. I have heard and believe there are specific reasons for artifacts to be what they were intended to be. Hair pin possibly, who is to say but the man that is holding it in his hand. Nice find, Well done...
Just Imagine how many Natives smoked a Pipe. Then consider all the other things that did not survive that a drill would be good for///jmo

Nice Drill.Thanks for posting

After digging since the beginning of January on a Hemphill Site, I have to agree.

I've seen some amazing variations in the Hemphill type just within the past several weeks. I mistakingly name a drill that looks similar to the drill posted as a Dalton drill in one of my videos. Also a preform base with thinning flutes on both sides I thought was a paleo base. After examining everything from the site so far, I realize the base is a un-notched Hemphill preform w/o the side notches in it yet. The drill that my buddy found is obviously an exhausted Hemphill as I look back on it.
