Unique Find
This is a unique artifact, personal find from Williamson County, Texas. The abos finished the base on this piece first and started flaking the edge on one side but did not finish the piece. On one side the cortex shows and the other side is partially flaked, neat study piece. Looks like it was intended to be a Marshall. Viewed from the cortex side it resembles a fish.

It would likely have worked fine as a hafted knife the way it is. If that was the intention, there would have been no point to refining it, losing material in the process.

Yes Johnny very unique. Perino has a preform like this in his volume#2 book,,dosen't say what county it is from tho,but noted it to become a Bulverde point when finished.

Johnny, there are actually several archaic forms that will sometimes complete the base before the distal end or even before finished thinning. I have seen several Montells like that and for the Earbob Ferry type up this way it's a very common occurrence.
