Petrified Wood points

Here is why i Love Petrified wood artifacts. If you guys would I would love to see some of yours from around the country.

That first one top left is fantastic! The way that the grain runs through is unbelievable!

Question: Why do the artifacts from your area seem so highly polished?

You know I just don't know they came out of the ground just as you see them. I have not done anything more that wipe them off with a cloth. Perhaps the ground? They were in sand mostly. Maybe the hardness of the stone. Just dont know but they all look this way. Someone out there may be able to help with that.

I can see why you Love the pet-wood,,,Wow,, some amazing Grain in these examples.
I only have one pet wood point that I just recieved as a gift,,,I don't have any pictures of it yet But I will post some soon.

Yes. Maybe a fine sandy soil doing eons of polishing. I've noticed some from other areas that also have that look, while mine look,... well, stony.

Since this thread was brought back up, I just thought I would add a few pictures. These were hand dug by me in Titus County Texas.

The 1st one is a petrified wood Dalton. The tip is bent a little where they worked around a knot in the wood.



The next 1 is a nice, very translucent Gary point.





Then this one is coal black with a translucent strip right down the blade edge. This.1 is my favorite.



I have some more from this site that I will try and get pictures of later.

petrified point

Here is my only nice petrified point. Found in Georgetown Texas. Not sure on the type.
