Hope this is the right place to ask.
I need to ship some artifacts and might be selling some in the future. I was hoping to find out what folks are using for shipping. I see on ebay a lot of people charging $3.50 or even just one dollar shipping on items that a selling pretty cheap. I can't imagine them taking too much of a loss at those prices to cover shipping but it doesn't seem like you could pay shipping and purchase a box/envelope at that price. I guess my question is, how do you ship at those prices and still have a package that will protect the items adequately? The USPS small flat rate boxes seem like an easy way to go but it runs the price up to to at least $5. Thanks, Joe |

I see a lot of people who use the free priority boxes and just wrap them in brown paper, but I'm pretty sure the post office frowns on it.
A lot of people do padded envelops with a couple pieces of cardboard inside, I prefer boxes personally for any relic. Bulk boxes are pretty cheap, if a seller is going to go through a couple hundred eBay listings then they are the way to go. |

I dabble on ebay off and on but over the years have bought plenty of items. When they don't charge much for shipping you don't usually get much. I guess most just take the risk of an envelope in my experience. Most wrap the point(s) up in bubble wrap, sandwhich it between some cardboard, stick it in an envelope and off it goes. Surprisingly enough, I haven't gotten too many brokes though.

I remember comanche had a bad experience with envelopes... most got broke from the sorting machine. Box is probably for both parties...

Like Neo said, if you are just shipping one or two Points you can put them in cardboard and ship them in the bubble wrap envelopes. I also sometimes wrap them in bubble wrap and send them in those envelopes. I prefer using the Priority Boxes though since you can send up to 70 lbs and they are reasonably priced to ship.

Thanks guys. The priority boxes seem like the easiest. And they probably get banged around less. I did look around and found some bulk boxes for about 30cents each. Might be able to shave the cost down a little if I decide its worth the trouble.

Don't forget those flat rate boxes are free.
