Anybody know where I can buy art glass & other knapping materials online? I know ebay is a good place for obsidian, chert etc... but having a hard time finding art glass.

Thanks!

This guy has a wide variety of materials including color fiber optic preforms and colored glass along with lots of other popular lithics.

There was a knapper at the last show I attended who was using TV screens for old TV's. He was making some really big Blades and Points from them.

Sometimes you can find old garbage dumps from the 20's-40's or so that have the big one gallon brown glass jars of Hi-Lex Bleach, the bottoms of them work really nice.. of course now that I knapp as often as I do I can't find any of the darn things. If any of you know what I'm talking about and have some or can get some I'll trade artifacts for them!

Cannonman, I'm very intrested in those flakes, I'll send you pm. Thanks very much for the link Ghost Recon, believe thats what I was looking for. My father worked on tv's for a long time and maybe he can help me with what I could use to do some knapping.

From Louisiana, thanks very much for welcoming me aboard the forums, it's an honor!

I know of an old dump site with lots of glass lying around. I have one complete one gallon jug like you are talking about.

Is it just those bottoms in particular or any old jar? There are some large pieces of glass, from platters and big dishes and tons of old jars.

If any of that would work let me know! I will hit the woods tomorrow and see what I can find.

10K, shoot me an email w/ your address, I can send you some flakes of keokuk no prob.

Headhunter23, those big brown glass gallon jars were the best, the old blue canning jars make pretty points too, any one really, not plate or dishes, but glass. Shoot me an email, maybe we can work something out-
