PHOTOS – 2009 NAS Artifact Show
2009 NAS Artifact Show
The Nebraska Archaeological Society is hosting its 5th annual Native American Artifact Show on Saturday, August 29th, in Seward, Nebraska. The show will be held at the Seward County Fairgrounds, in the Ag Pavilion building, from 9am to 5pm. Exhibitor set-up is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the day of the show. No matter how large or small your collection is, we are interested in your participation! New this year is awards to be determined by vote of the public in two categories: “Best Artifact Exhibits” and “Best Educational Exhibits” The public is invited to take advantage of this opportunity and view some of the finest private Great Plains artifact collections in North America. Besides the Nebraska collections we usually have outstanding collections from at least eight states. Because this is a non-commercial show there will be a number of professional institutions involved as well, and they provide the general public with valuable and educational information. There will be a presentation by Dr. Jason M. LaBelle of the Colorado State University. Dr. LaBelle’s presentation will be Folsom and the Lindenmeier Site: Paleoindian Hunters on the Edge of the Rocky Mountains. His presentation is scheduled for 1:30 pm. Mr. George Corner, Vertebrate Paleontology Collection Manager for the University of Nebraska State Museum will be at the show to help identify vertebrate fossils that are brought in by exhibitors or the public. Mr. Greg Brown, Chief Preparator of Vertebrate Paleontology for the University of Nebraska State Museum, will demonstrate state-of-the-art materials and methods in preserving fossils and artifacts, as well as the process used to make accurate museum replicas for research and exhibition. There are 140 display-only tables available. No table fees, all display tables are FREE. That’s right, no tables fees to display your collections so others may enjoy viewing them …use your table-fee money to help pay for your travel expenses. The Nebraska Archaeological Society has designed this free show for those who enjoy collecting artifacts, learning about artifacts or simply enjoying the camaraderie generated by all of the fine artifact exhibits. For more information call Dick Eckles 402 225 2525 or Plainslithics@windstream.net or Kevin Hammond 402 423 5700.

Photos: Previous Nebraska Artifact Shows
These photos, taken in previous years, show only a fraction of the fun and education you can expect from attending next month's Nebraska Artifact Show on August 29th.

A final word regarading the NAS show. It is a show focused on fun and eduation and is 'non-commercial' in nature (no buying/selling or advertising for the same). Therefore ALL tables are display and all are absolutely free. And admission for the public is FREE! It doesn't get much better than that. I'm betting you'll see some amazing finds displayed here that don't make it to any other shows.
Go check it out!

Nebraska Artifact Show 2009
Shannon,
Great website! Thanks for posting pictures of past Nebraska shows. We are planning for our largest show ever this year. New this year are exhibitor awards and our primary raffle prize is a high quality stereo microscope. We invite all interested parties to come to Seward for the day. Respectfully, Kevin Hammond President Nebraska Archaeological Society |
