$10?
Sounds kinda dumb, but what do I know? I walked in with several frames at Temple last year just to share. I wasn't selling anything. Nobody said a thing and I wasn't charged. |

I think it's a good way to get people to not come back next year.

I am with you on that, Mark. BTW, how are they handling the whole "Sales Tax" thing? I want to be on the right side of the law, but at the same time I'm not sure how I, as a seller, am going to comply. Is it just a matter of filling out a form at the show, charging the tax, and sending in the appropriate amount? Or do I have to become a "registered" artifact dealer? I'm confused and concerned.

I think it's a decent way for a promoter to put some money in their pocket... And a good way to kill a show next year.
I've never seen a dealer or displaying collector complain about walk-ins bringing points, heck aside from meeting up with friends at a slow show a single nice walk in point might be the highlight of the event. I'd rather see the show jack up table fees and keep walkin addmission down to 3 or 4 dollars. I used to go to a show in Indiana that charged 10 for a table. You had a couple of guys take five tables each and fill them with every flake they found (or put two frames of field grade per table.) |

I can understand both sides Mark. I’m like you; a lot of the artifacts that come through the door are by individuals just trying to find out more about what they’ve found. But many come only to take advantage of having so many arrowhead enthusiast gathered in one spot to peddle their finds, thus the “frame fees”. Many times I’ve seen deals go down between a “walk-in dealer” to a show patron, often times on a table that a dealer paid for. I honestly don’t care one way or another, but I know some dealers have complained. Dealers and displayers have to follow the rules by having to pay table fees and now having a state sales tax ID number, and paying sales tax. The “walk-in dealer” paid nothing until the “frame fees” were imposed. They used to get all the advantage of the crowds, advertising, etc while paying nothing more than an admission fee. All the admission and frame fees didn’t seem to slow down the crowd at Fredericksburg Saturday, the place was jammed! Paul |

If they pulled this at gun shows I know it would definetly discourage people from returning.
