Illinois Meet and Greet

There is an empty school here in town and I was thinking of trying to set up a Meet and Greet for people close enough to the area. If anyone is interested let me know. the location would be Farmington Ill 61531 If I get enough people interested I will inquire about the space!

I'm game. I'm sure I know a few others that might be as well.

Another question

would anyone be interested or willing to set up artifacts? because I would definatly set up a display. And with this kind of reply on the first day, if we get a few more people we could have a decent meet n greet. I will go ahead and start looking into the space at the old highschool. Any suggestions on a certain day of the week?

Hope it goes well!

Im surprised that this area doesnt have a show or anything, this is a great area for artifacts. And its pretty Central for the surrounding areas. If we get enough people maybe we could make it a yearly thing. That would be awesome. Trying to Figure out a good date in feb like The second sunday or first tuesday of the month . Hope to hear some good suggestions, and hope a few more people say yes. I know atleast 4 or 5 people around town that would probably show up too. A little advertising and word of mouth can go a long way!! We will see what happens.

There used to be a show in East Peoria and there's also one in Lasalle, IL which is about 50 miles or so up the road. The show date for the Starved Rock Show is May 1, 2011.

The ISAS only choses to host a certain amount of shows each year. If you add too many the attendance goes down and it gets to be a lot of traveling for some of the officers and dealers who attend most of them. That being said, there's nothing saying that a private person can't start one up like Mike Karr did in Mason City, Illinois. It's turned out to be a very nice show in an area with a lot of collector history and prehistory.

Best,
