Looks like yall are getting bot attacks...Id suggest switching to the Q&A reg form in your admin cp....seems to have eliminated the attacks my site got.

Also you can do FB connect on here and that elims spam too from what I have seen.

I see a lot of the same spammer names of people here that try to register on my forum as well. It's not as bad now as it was a few years ago, wow it was bad then. Seems most of them are trying to push some drug or the other. Losers.

Last month was the worst I ever had..100K users reg'd in less than a month. I was using captcha...it didnt seem to "capture" any of them though. I have since started using Vb's Q&A and facebook login. have only had one spammer and it was a human spammer not a bot.

keeping my fingers crossed lol

I noticed late Monday evening that there were 5,544 members listed here. Now today, about 40 hours later, there is 5913 members listed. Holy cow. That's 379 more members in just that short time, must be a LOT of spammers registering here!!

I've always wondered when all these spammers and proxy username members were going to start up. Seems like an average of 3 or so a day register. I'm hoping none of these jokers has posting privileges.

There are a lot of them out there, but they don't get posting privileges. Every once in a while one sneaks through and posts the usual stuff about buying gold online or foreign currency exchange in an existing post, etc. but the posts get deleted pretty quickly.

I don't know much about spammers etc,,, but what does this all mean?? And how many "actual" members (participating,,lurkers included) as opposed to registered members that are idle or that don't have posting priveleges, etc?? I look through the members list occasionally for entertainment purposes and have noticed alot of members became active and registered,,, and never logged in again,, apparently; (according to the "last visited" date and time is the same as when they registered). Weird how many are like this. (Unless this has something to do with a privacy option and any recent activity is "hidden") ???

anyone that registers gets counted as a member. and they don't all have posting privelages. all forums get slammed with spam everyday... it is a horrible problem and we spend hours of our time each week sifting through it and making sure the minimum of spam gets through. you will also notice that we occassionaly purge the membership, where you will see hundreds deleted at a time... if we let everyone stay registered, we would have tens of thousands of members.

On my Invision forum, I can ban by the ip prefix which lets almost NO spammers from those PITA countries even get through to register. Saves us a LOT of work dealing with them, believe me.

Can y'all do it with this one? It would help a lot I guarandamntee it.
