Yeah it is being discussed. ShowmeMoflint has some real good ideas. Mechanization issues are being considered. Nobody wants it to distract from the rest of the forum and its obvious value or bog down a server.

Yeah I could see where it could distract from the forum. Thanks. I was just wondering if it was ever considered. But I think it could also be helpful for folks to discuss things in real time. And besides that when I'm not in the field I could just sit here and make everyone listen to me complain about stuff.

My experience of Chat rooms with regards to the various Flyfishing Boards i am on have resulted in This Observation...: When the Chat room is first up and running it has lots of folks chatting and visiting.. But after awhile the Interest downshifts a fair amount.. Mainly because a Good percentage of Folks do not have a Lot of time to spend any considerable time in a Chat room.... Most of the time they Just click on the Board, hit the "New Posts" button, read what they want, reply and then sign off.
I go into Chatrooms occasionally ..but often do not spend a lot of time in them... except on the not often time where i can actually afford to stay in for an extended period of time...

Mind You this isn't the end all observation, but it's merely what I've noticed...

Not sure what happened with the idea. Big Ed is the one how takes care of the technical stuff of the forums. Got to find a system that is compatible to Vbulletin or maybe not. I am not sure how it works.

User CP FAQ Community Calendar New Posts Search Quick Links The sweat lodge Log Out This is where I thought it should go on the forums page or in the personal message box area. I hope Big Ed can hook it up I know i wouldn't be the only one to use it.

Agree with Flyjunkie. They usually start of good. Even though they are live chat rooms, they are quite impersonal at the same time, and can get clicquey. Hard to explain. IMO - A waste of time, usually.

a chat room is a good idea in my opinion. it would allow for some discussion between a couple of people that they might want to share valuable info in real time. make plans for then next hunt or anything. but it makes a difference in chat room styles....are we talking a one on one chat box like facebook uses ....or are we talking a room where everyone is free to look in...or a combo of the 2?

We will likely do "chat nights" where the chat system is available for a period of time on a scheduled basis.
