How to post Youtube Videos

Did you know that you can embed Youtube videos into your posts?

With a few simple steps you can add Youtube videos that appear and can be played within your posts. Follow the steps below and give it a try. It gets easier with each one you post.

If you have questions or need help post in this thread so others can learn as well.

Step 1: After finding your video on Youtube, click on the 'embed' button located below the video pane. This will reveal the HTML code which is the link to the video. See figure below.

Name: 01.jpg
Views: 198
Size: 38.5 KB

Step 2: Next you want to copy just a small portion of this HTML code. The code you want to select and copy is located immediately after the link.... htttp://www.youtube.com...starting with the forward slash ( / ) and ending with the question mark ( ? ).

Copy the text starting with the first ' / ' and ending with the question mark ( ? ). Example: /v/UiCRbZqZM5c? See figure below.

Size: 36.9 KB

Step 3: On the Arrowheadology Forums, select Post New Thread. Here's where you'll learn some basic HTML!

Type the following two HTML tags in the text area for the new post. Example:

These are the commands that identifies the begining and the end of the youtube code. See figure below.

Name: 03.jpg
Views: 195
Size: 27.6 KB

Step 4: Now type (or copy the string of code you captured in step 2 in between the two HTML tags you created in step 3.

Example INSERT IT HERE

See figure below.

Name: 04.jpg
Views: 207
Size: 28.2 KB

Step 5: Click 'Submit New Thread' and your video should appear. See figure below.

Name: 05.jpg
Views: 200
Size: 37.7 KB

Erb,

Thanks for giving it a shot. Don't worry about multiple attempts. We can help clean up the multiple attempts.

Yes, there is a way to test...instead of hitting SUBMIT, click on PREVIEW POST instead. This will give you an advance look at your post before it goes live. If it is not to your liking....simply make the desired edits in the text box below.

Yes, you do need to type the HTML youtbue tags in brackets and insert your code in between. One item to note, is on the second tag....the slash goes in front of the word 'youtube'. Make sense?

This --.
Not this--[youtube/] as the second tag.

Give 'er another whirl and let us know what the results are. Again, it gets easier after the first one.

Shannon

When it's all set you up should have somthing like this in between the two HTML tags

/v/UisSM5b?

It seems that most start with the /v/, have string of characters and end with the question mark.

Again, here to help. I hope this isn't too confusing.
