Question about having posts approved

I have a quick question. Will my posts/threads with pictures always need to be approved or will that go away when I have been a member longer?

It kind of puts a damper on a thread when someone asks me to post a picture and the post isnt approved until two days later.

I posted a thread at lunch time today about a cache of big blades I found yesterday and it hasnt been approved yet. Kind of a bummer when I am all fired up about finding something and I have to wait days for my thread to get approved

I don't understand why this happening to your posts. We have been talking about that amongst the Mods and we can't figure out why it's happening to your posts and only your posts. I am going to bring this post to the attention of the Mods and Administrators and see if anything can be done about it.

Thank you Steve! I did not know if everyones post had to be approved or if it was only happening to me.

When I joined the forum I did not get a confirmation email so I couldn't confirm my account which left me unable to post. I just checked the message I sent to a moderator about the problem and it turns out it was you that I contacted. You said you would email Shannon and he would approve my application so I could post, which he did. I imagine this has something to do with the current issue??

My posts/threads without any pictures go up instantly. I only get the "must be approved" message when I make a post or start a thread with pictures in it. I also noticed that when I changed my profile image today it did not change to the new image.. the old one is still being used.

You're welcome. I sent this thread along to the other Mods and Administrators so hopefully we can get this issue resolved for you. With the holidays though it may take a few days for everyone to see it. I have to work tonight and Christmas Eve so I'll be on here and may be the only Mod on the board.

What file type are your images you're attempting to upload? Example; are they .jpg, .gif, or other?

All of your permission settings are set to allow you to view, post and upload images. I'm wondering if maybe this is a new file extension that we have not yet accounted for.

Apologies for the hassle. I'm confident, we can get it worked out.

Hi Shannon, they are regular jpg images. I am not having a problem uploading them, they upload just fine as I already have them in my gallery.

The problem is that when I put the BB code for the image in a post/thread and click submit it says it needs admin approval. It seems I am flagged as needing admin approval for posts with pictures. Regular posts without pictures go right through without needing approval.

Even though you are not on any blacklists I am sticking with my gut on this one. SpamGaurd have found something that relates to your I.P. address and the search results I have provided. The connection is here though I am not 100% sure but seems to me it would be the spot to investigate.

Correct! Anytime I post a picture or start a thread with a picture it says the post/thread needs admin approval. Sometimes the thread will show up after a few days and sometimes it never shows up. I posted a thread on Thursday with pictures of a small cache I found and it never went up. All posts without pictures go up instantly with no issues. I have not yet tried to post links to pictures.. maybe those would go through?

One of my threads with in-situ pics took 2 days to go up and a follow up post with requested pictures never went up.

I figured the problem had something to do with the troubles I had when I first joined. For some reason I did not get a confirmation email that I could click to activate my account. I had to have a admin activate my account.

Interesting that my I.P comes up on a spam/bot list. I have a rural internet service.. wouldnt think it would be on any spam lists.
