Sorry to hear about the problems with your tank and fish Frank.
Last year when I reopened my outdoor fishpond I killed all of my fish by accident. They were only Goldfish that I had bought at WalMart for .28 cents each, but they had grown to be over 5 inches long and a couple were around 6 inches. I cleaned the pond a little and added new water and I put in some some stuff to stabilize the water and some algaecide, but I forgot to turn the damn pump on and when I went to check them the next day they were all floating. They all made it through the winter and survived the frozen water and my dumbass killed them in one fail swoop. I went and bought 10 more and 8 survived the winter and are now about the same size as the ones I killed. I didn't make the same mistake this year. I turned the pump on first and then cleaned the pond and put the chemicals in.

Bluegill ,redear,& green sunfish make pretty cool aquarium fish ,though they can be aggressive & will eat smaller tankmates. On the positive side they make pretty good table fare if they outgrow their tank.
